5.0 out of 5 stars WHERE LEGENDS RIDE, 6 Jan 2008
By Raymond Foster (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a collection of 14 short stories set against the backdrop of the West. The writers are well known novelists who write Black Horse Westerns for Robert Hale Ltd.
Certainly there is gunplay - what Western wouldn't.
What the reader does find is well drawn characters and you find yourself drawn into their lives.
The father who has to hunt down his son. A beaten wife who will do anything to protect her daughter. Two men looking for the easy life who discover that hardwork can be rewarding.
Just three examples of what, for me, was a tremendous read.
Highly recommended and, as it is in short story form, a good introduction to these writers. You don't have to be a Western fan to enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHERE LEGENDS RIDE - AN ANTHOLOGY TO SUIT ALL TASTES, 7 Mar 2008
By A. hughes (northants, england) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
"Where Legends Ride" encompasses the best of the western genre, but goes much further. Whether your tastes are thrillers/mysteries or even romances, you will find something in this volume to satisfy. Courage under fire, bullies brought down to size, a man forced to hunt down his son or a woman driven to desperate measures to protect her own, they are all here. This is an anthology of how the human spirit, even in the most difficult circumstances, can survive and conquer. As in the West itself, though, these are not just tales of grim survival. Some have humour, some are just downright clever.....All in all, if you like a good read that grips you from start to finish, this anthology is for you.
