I read this book years ago when I was a high-school, I am now 29 years old and mother of a 5 month old boy. Out of all the books I have read "Eric" is one that stands out and one that I would like to read again one day. I was pleased to see other people felt the same way about this book. It handles a tragic subject with humour and dignity. I hope it is published again one day.

I first read Eric while in junior or senior high. I am 36 now. I can't begin to remember the number of times I have read this book. If I'm going on a trip or just out to lie in the sun, this is the first book I reach for. I am now on my third paperback and am looking for the hardback. It is a story that will move you to tears, make you laugh, and most importantly, make you painfully aware of the life of a cancer victim. It is a story of unbounding courage. I have learned many a lesson and feel that I am a better person for having read this book.

The first time I read this book, I was in the eighth grade. I loved it so much that I took it out on permanent loan from Mrs. Edwards' library. I have read Eric so many times and every time moves me in a different way. I graduate from nursing school in December. This book was and still is an inspiration to me as I move forward in field of nursing. This book is a wonderful example of how much life is worth and I have shared it with many of my fellow students as an inspiration to them as well. Eric will always be in my mind and in my heart as I care for my patients.
