5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent book from the King of teen horror, 21 April 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Scavenger Hunt (Paperback)
I owned this book a while ago, read it over and over again, loved it- then lost it. Now, several years later I find myself missing this book with a passion! 'Scavenger Hunt' is Christopher Pike's excellent, eerie tale of good vs evil, with those who are 'good' being not so good and those who are 'evil' finally showing a good side near the end. As with Pike's other books, the story revolves around unrequited teenage love, with the main, troubled character- Carl- being achingly drawn towards the flirtacious and self-centered Cessy. Along with their acquaintances and classmates, they embark upon a scavenger hunt. However, when Carl's group becomes seperated from the others, some very ununusual, very twisted, events start rolling into motion. 'Scavenger Hunt' is one of Pike's best- among others such as 'Whisper of Death', 'Monster' and the incredible 'Die Softly'. Christopher Pike is excellent at creating stories that mix real life teenage personal problems with supernatural circumstances- making them almost believable. With this book in particular, the atmosphere is really claustrophobic, and near the end you can almost find yourself tasting the dirt.

Unmissable.
