Naughty doll Amelia Jane bosses all of the other toys around and is very unpopular.The toys decide to get their own back and play lots of tricks on Amelia. In the last chapter Amelia Jane comes good and the other toys decide to forgive her yet again.
This is an excellent book for the 3-6s as children love to read about naughtiness in any form(this is the 'tame' naughtiness of the more innocent Enid Blyton era). As one would expect it's a bit short on politically correct characters, but if you can view the odd golliwog as an inoffensive relic of a long-gone childhood then you'll find it charming.

Enid Blyton's novels shaped my childhood and are part of who I am. I loved all her books from Amelia Jane to Mallory Towers. No childhood is complete without the full Enid Blyton collection!

Amelia Jane appeals to children because of the fantasy of the nursery coming alive at night. Every child knows that their toys are real - it's only grownups who think they're 'just toys'. Enid Blyton is in on the secret! She tells the tales of the toys when no one is around...

I found it absolutely thrilling when I was a child. It was so exciting having someone confirm what I knew all along: my dolls were real and had a secret life of their own..
