5.0 out of 5 stars Certainly not "Boring Boring Arsenal" any longer!, 7 Mar 2004
This book is a must for all Gooners. It has a superb collection of pictures and great black and white memories beginning with the very early days in 1886 as Royal, then to be Woolwich Arsenal and Herbert Chapman, their superiority during the 30's, the unforgettable Cup upset in 71 which led to the famous Double with some wonderful pictures of George Graham, Frank McClintock and Charlie George and lastly to Bruce Rioch's wonderful signings of Dennis Berghamp and David Platt. The statistics are there for all to see, with every game, score line, scorer and team line-up. Also, quick fact, Arsenal are the only team, with the exception of Everton, not to be relegated from the old First Division or Premier League. There are some great moments to relive, in my era anyway, the unforgettable Michael Thomas goal at Anfield on May 21st 1989, just seeing the faces of Steve McMahon and Alan Hansen was one of the best night's of my life. Also, Ian Wright's magnificent goal-scoring, not only in the league but the May 1993 Cup Final and Coca Cola Cup Final against Sheffied Wednesday, even with a broken toe! I also loved the moment we beat Standard Liege 7-0 in a close game in November 1993 in the Cup Winners Cup. Not only does this book describe each and every wonderful memory with great writing and fantastic pictures, you will also relive the memories one would rather forget, amongst them the departure of George Graham and the Spurs defeat at Wembley. Lest we forget.

Anyway, if you are a true fan and fanatic of the Reds you're going to love this book, not only because of their colourful and successful history but also to watch and admire the way they are playing today, which is the beautiful game. One for the coffee table, especially if you live with a Tottenham fan as I do!

5.0 out of 5 stars The one book Arsenal fans should all own, 27 April 2001
By A Customer
If you're looking for a single title to provide you with a total overview of Arsenal, this is the one. If you're looking to buy one book to give a young Arsenal fan who wants to learn more about the Club this is it. If you're an Arsenal fan who knows little or nothing of the Club's glorious history look no further. If you know a fair bit about Arsenal you'll learn a whole lot more by reading this publication.

An excellent book in fact, but why would you want to buy the old edition when the new one by the same authors, but with a slightly different title is already availabile?.
