Product Description

Morgan Stanley connectivity global, Sept 2002

This book is in fact the ideal migration path for someone who has had a good object oriented programming foundation but no ASP experience.

Product Description

ASP.NET is the next generation of Active Server Pages from Microsoft. It's designed to support the development of dynamic and data-driven Web applications and Web services in much the same way Visual Basic enabled the rapid development of Microsoft Windows desktop applications. This text aims to distill what is a large and comparatively complicated subject into a tutorial and reference that should be useful for both learning essential concepts and daily reference. It covers application and Web service development, custom controls, data access, security, deployment, and error handling and there's also an overview of the Web-related namespaces in the .NET Framework Class Library. Like other books in the "In a Nutshell" series, this title offers the facts, including critical background information, in a no-nonsense manner. It is a detailed reference that should enable even experienced Web developers to advance their ASP.NET applications to new levels.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for picking up asp.net quickly, 5 Oct 2004
By A Customer
If you have previous development experience then I would recommend this book as a quick way to learn the subject. It gives you a concise overview of all of the key topics.

Although it provides a good high-level understanding, this book does not really provide enough detailed examples to really master the subject. I think you also need to own a more comprehensive book such as Wrox's Professional ASP.NET .

5.0 out of 5 stars You will not regret this purchase!, 7 May 2004
Has allways O'Reilly made an excellent book.
I have found this book most useful in helping develop my first's ASP.NET solutions. I feel this is a most useful book to have at one's side. I found the author's writing style to be clear and the text together with the examples have enabled me to proceed to reasonably advanced ASP.NET development without too much pain. I doubt you will regret buying this book as an aid to your work in ASP.NET.
