'HIT! ... Covers a difficult topic in detail with lots of examples.' Computer Shopper, February 2002

Product Description

The wireless revolution has touched off a huge demand for Palm OS network applications. However, information on how to connect a Palm is fragmented across simply the function listings in the SDK documentation, a couple of book chapters, some sample code and a few articles on the Palm website (each of which assumes prior knowledge of network applications). "Palm OS Network Programming" pulls all the necessary elements together in a complete guide to developing network applications for the Palm computing platform. The author assumes knowledge of Palm programming in C, but no network experience is required. The book covers concepts such as transport protocols and client-server applications and is illustrated with examples using Metrowerks CodeWarrior development environment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ever on the market for network programing on palm, 22 Oct 2001
By A Customer
This is an extraordinary book for palm network progamming, rich content and value for money. I have been working on palm progamming for quite a few months. However, facing lots of challenge on the networking part. I have also bought the Palm OS progamming, but it didn't explain the networking stuff in great details. However, this book explains the concept in details about networking and all the useful issue concenring on palm. It's sample application start from the basic and built block by block on each chapter to make a complete solution. It is very suitable for any deveopler especially those without much concept and knowledge on network programming. After reading this book, you'll find network progamming on palm is not that difficult if u got the right way to do it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but over-complex in parts, 6 Jan 2002
By A Customer
The author presents a very well-structured tour of how to set up a session, using an FTP client as an example. He starts quite simply and progressively builds up the application. My only complaint is that his insistance on highly-structured code goes a bit too far for my tastes. This over-complicates the code, making it difficult to follow. I ended up deconstructing his code and listing out the network library functions to make it clear to myself what was going on and why. Probably a useful exercise anyway, but I'm a lazy reader and I felt more straightforward code would have helped.

Other than that, just what I needed!
