5.0 out of 5 stars Review of Black Pearls, 24 Nov 2003
By Helen Axford (Swindon, England.) - See all my reviews
A very readable and well researched novel. I was drawn to the book initially because the title and the cover appealed and I like historical romances on a Sunday afternoon. I have now read this book and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is entertaining with some genuinely funny moments, the characters are rounded and very believable and I was with them all the way. It gave a very good picture of Bath in the eighteenth century and it was a change to read about people of the middle class, not the usual dukes and duchesses.

This novel is written with a graphic and racy style and holds you through all the movements of the plot up to the final climax, where all the various strands are tied together. It is light and easy reading and I would recommend it to anyone for a few hours very pleasant entertainment.
