5.0 out of 5 stars Getting even better with age!, 25 Sep 2009
By C. M. Collier "myopia1" (Liverpool,england) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I don't know how old Frederick Forsyth is now,but I wasn't expecting such a scintillating bunch of short stories, each with a twist in the tale. The first one, The Veteran, is about an old man who gets kicked to death by youths, and what happens at the court case and after.Suffice it to say,he gets justice, but not in the way you'd expect.
The next story,The Art of the Matter,is a master class on how to get back at the fat cats, The Miracle and The Citizen are engrossing tales, each with a surprise at the end,and the last one,Whispering Wind,is fantastic; a brilliant exciting love story between a frontier scout from the Little Bighorn and a Native American squaw. All I can tell you is that somehow time travel is involved!
All in all a collection well worth reading; I highly recommend it!
