Product Description

When Bernard Walsh moved his family to Liverpool he did not expect his past to pursue him. But then Theresa Nolan, bent on revenge, arrived in the city. While she wrought havoc, two young girls trod paths separated by fate, but joined by blood, winding their routes towards the Corner House.

From the Back Cover

When one dark night in 1939, young Theresa Nolan was brutally raped by three young men, it was the beginning of a series of tragic and dramatic events. For the young men were not criminals or vagrants, but the sons of wealthy and privileged businessmen. Pregnant, thrown out of her home by her bigoted father, Theresa vowed a lifetime of vegeance on the men who had wrecked her future. Physically frail but filled with a burning anger that fuelled her weak body, she determined that nothing and no-one was going to deflect her from her path of retribution, not even the gentle man who cared for her during her sickness and whom she eventually came to love.

But there were others caught in the web of violence and deceit: Barnard Walsh and his brother Danny, and Eva the midwife who had befriended Theresa and saw her through her pregnancy. Above all there were two children bonded from birth, whose lives were to play their part in the drama of Theresa Nolan.

With all the rich characters and traditions of Liverpool and the north-west, Ruth Hamilton has created another magnificent story of passion and conflict.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Scotland Road, disappointed., 6 Oct 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Corner House (Paperback)
I am half way through the corner house and after reading other ruth hamilton books , i am finding this book hard to follow, it is not a book that i would call gripping and i can quite easily put it down after reading only a few pages, which i normally wouldnt do. i hope that the other half of the book which i have not read yet picks up, but overall i am disappointed

1.0 out of 5 stars Present-day morality tale, 15 Sep 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Corner House (Paperback)
Cliche-ridden formularised nonsense aimed at low-brow audience. Set in N. Liverpool, an amazing series of life-experiences shape a tale of revenge. All loose ends tie up in a Victorian morality tale elevated to the present day. No details spared.
