4.0 out of 5 stars A better tale than the previous two., 15 Sep 2004
By Ian Tapley "thefragrantwookiee" - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
THE STORY:
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are sent to Melida/Daan, a world being torn apart by war, prejudice and institutionalised hatred. Qui-Gon's sole purpose is the rescue of his old friend, the Jedi Knight Tahl, but Obi-Wan finds a compelling cause among a faction known as the Young. A cause that will make him question his commitment to the Jedi Order.

WHAT'S GOOD:
The story here is a lot more interesting and emotionally involving as we feel as torn by the situation as Obi-Wan does. The pace of the tale is much better than previous volumes with betrayals, escapes and battles around every corner. The best element, however, is the introduction of Tahl, a character whose relationship with Qui-Gon is immediately compelling and foreshadows a greater involvement in the later books of the series.

WHAT'S BAD:
Occasionally, when one character or another is spouting some racial rhetoric, you may find yourself thinking 'okay, we've heard all this before, can we move on now?'.

5.0 out of 5 stars totally amazing, 24 Oct 2000
By A Customer
this is one of the best children story book i've ever read. (even though it's for children, adults might even find it more emotional and get the feeling better)if you are a star wars fan, this is a must read!!! the story work best at following the book pattern. out of the 'jedi apprentice' sets, this is the best yet.
