5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read., 15 Nov 2005
By Joe Kerr (Ireland) - See all my reviews
I first read this book, O lets see, about 10 years ago. In that time I've moved on in my reading and now enjoy well crafted, intelligent pieces of writing. I've tried re-reading other novels in my dusty collection of Sci-Fi classics and to be honest they just don’t appeal anymore. However, Micheal Shea's Polyphemus is one of those reads were the natural ability of the writer shines through, his style and prose are gripping. There is imagery in this book that is still with me to this day. It is one of the most original and exciting collection of short stories that I’ve read ( and I’ve read a good many).
In brief, Polyphemus is a collection of vivid, shocking and compulsive short stories. If you have chanced upon this review and are even slightly into Sci-Fi or horror, buy this book immediately, you will not be disappointed.
