'Nobody writes modern fantasy like Eddings or as well! Eddings is at the top with the very best' Vector 'Sparhawk is the best-realized hero in modern fantasy' Daily Telegraph

Product Description

New cover reissue of Book Two of the classic ELENIUM trilogy, by the greatest living fantasy writer. The quest for the jewel of life continues. Ehlana, the young Queen of Elenia, clings to life by a thread, preserved within a crystalline tomb conjured by the sorceress Sephrenia. But there's a price to pay -- twelve Pandion Knights must sacrifice their lives to keep her alive for just one year. Only one thing is powerful enough to save Ehlana: the Bhelliom, an exquisite and magical jewel that has been lost for centuries. Sparhawk, the Queen's Champion, and his band of allies must set off on a perilous quest to locate the precious stone. But the evil God Azash has plans for it himself! The second of the Sparhawk books is epic fantasy at its best.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read!, 29 Jul 2000
By A Customer
This book is a brilliant sequel to The Diamond Throne and carries on the story well. David Eddings has a unique style of writing which is both easy and fun to read. So far I have read almost all of David Eddings' books and enjoyed them all, however the Elenium and the Tamuli are my favourite series possibly because I read them before I read the Belgariad and the Mallorean. I'd recommend this book to anyone, not just Eddings fans and I would also suggest that you try all of his other books.

Happy reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars Read the first book first..., 14 Feb 2000
By zarch@cwcom.net (Loughborough, UK) - See all my reviews
My advice with all Eddings books is to try and read the first book from a series first.

I read the Belgariad in the correct order, however I started the Elenium with this book and didn't like it at all. A year or two later though I came back to it and read the series from the start and liked it.

The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because of the number of stock characters, as mentioned above, and the fact that the plot and a lot of the characters in this series have direct counterparts in the Belgariad.

All of the four series Eddings has written are well worth reading (The Belgariad, Mallorean, Elenium, Tamuli) however I hope the reason he hasn't produced a book for a while is that he is coming up with a plot which doesn't involve searching for a Blue Magical Artifact To Save The World.

Hmm, Mixed feelings but still well worth a read.

Tim

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ruby Knight (The Elenium, 7 Feb 2004
The crystal block that Sephrenia, Vanion and 11 other Pandion have created to sustain Ehlana's life is getting weaker and weaker and Sparhawk has to hurry. The attack on Ehlana is not the only problem out there, somethings much more significant is happening and he must fids blue rose to save her
