5.0 out of 5 stars The Badge Collectors Bible, 13 April 2000
By A Customer
This is an excellent book with black and white photographs of many cap badges. Each badge is numbered and the numbers are used by dealers and collectors as the 'industry-standard' to refer to cap badges. If you are going to buy cap badges by mail order, then you need this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding work, bettered only by superior photographs., 22 Feb 2001
By A Customer
Mssrs Kipling and King have effectively produced the definitive work with regard to the complex and elaborate history of the British Army's headress insignia from the period of the end of the First World War to (almost) present day. Why almost, well because of the changes and re-emergence and growth of the British Army over the last couple of years, currency is almost impossible to achieve. The debate concerning line diagrams versus photographs will no doubt continue. (Peter Taylor's "Collecting Anodised Cap Badges" is an excellent example of the former). However, photographs add depth and dare it be said, an air of excitement for the collector. Despite the plethora of such photographs, here is the area where one may unfortunately have to take minor issue with the compilers. The quality of photographs is not only occasionally blurred, but the referencing is slightly confusing at times. That being said, the authorship is beyond compare or reproach. As a collector of 27 of my 38 years, this is my bible and I commend it to all - from the beginner to the worthy gentleman who has collected his cap badges the hard way -by earning his badge through earning the priviledge to wear it!!
