This book is absolutely essential for collectors of British Army cap badges.

I have managed to pick up a good deal on badges many times because I had better knowledge of what was on offer than the person selling.

On a practical level this book will earn its keep while it will also provide interesting information on items you will probably never even get an opportunity to buy.

The second volume is equally useful.

The actual title of the book is Head-Dress Badges of the British Army - Volume 1 - Up to the end of the Great War'. It is an excellent book with black and white photographs of nearly 1900 cap badges. Each badge is numbered and the numbers are used by dealers and collectors as the 'industry-standard' to refer to cap badges. If you are going to buy cap badges by mail order, then you need this book.

The very best and authoritative cap badge reference guide for C20th Britsh army Cap badge. B7W photos are small but adequate for identification. Not a good read like Gaylor's book but a cap badge collectors bible.
