3.0 out of 5 stars The History of the Runestaff 3, 2 Sep 2006

This 3rd volume in Moorcock's `History of the Runestaff' series finds Hawkmoon leaving behind Europe for post-nuclear holocaust America, as he is sent on a quest to find the magical Sword of the Dawn. As before, there is plenty of fast-paced sword and sorcery action here, though the fact that so much of this novel is driven by Hawkmoon's seemingly set-in-stone `destiny' (which leads to a very disappointing dues ex machina ending) means it's not particularly engaging.
