Product Description

Product Description

The Discworld Calendar is a perenniel favourite, and this year's will be just as sumptuously illustrated, with the dates just as exhaustively realised as ever. The 2007 Calendar will also be slightly different, for the Discworld, always quick to latch on to new innovations, is going photographic - that's photography Discworld-style! No Discworld fan will want to be without this masterpiece of Discworld art, featuring many of the world's favourite characters, including Tiffany Aching and Granny Weatherwax, Captain Carrot and the men* of the Watch, and, of course, Death Himself . . . *dwarfs, trolls, gnomes . . . in fact, men are a bit thin on the ground

About the Author

Terry Pratchett lives in Wiltshire. His Discworld series is a publishing phenomenon; he won the Carnegie Award for the Discworld novel MAURICE AND HIS AMAZING EDUCATED RODENTS. He was made an OBE in 1998.

1.0 out of 5 stars Big disappointment , 26 Sep 2006
By Susan Belcher "Su B" (St Helens, England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
I was looking forward to the Hogfather calendar - or at least to a artist animated versions of previous years. This however consists of stills from the Hogfather film, out in December 2006. It is nothing more than a cheap reproduction of the promotional pictures which are available in the Sky magazine and other film mags. It is a sad promotional gimmick and a let down.

As promotional material it is extremely disappointing - as a calendar for a whole year it is worse - I have already assigned this to the back of the wardrobe and won't be buying the next one until I've seen the content.

Very big disappointment.

1.0 out of 5 stars End of Christmas, 19 Nov 2006
By G. Reilly "Mozartonacid" (UK) - See all my reviews

Well what a disappointment, being of a slightly older persuasion I am no longer allowed to ask for toys for Christmas, so I look forward to my annual dose of Discworld art (which has been getting steadily worse as it seems to be drawn by artists who in recent calendars have no idea what a dDiscworld book looks like(November 2006 a prime example of how not to do it).
Next years calendar however takes the biscuit the plate it came on and indeed the packet, taking the Discworld faithful for granted on such a shameless commercial for the forthcoming SKY program leaves a bad taste in the mouth, as mentioned by another reviewer photos of actors who bear no resemblance to our fevered imaginations image of beloved characters is just wrong.
I would say dont buy this but I'm so depressed by it all I just cant be bothered to proffer anymore of an opinion on the subject.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stupid little holes!, 25 May 2007
By K. Williams "Furtrim" (Cornwall) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I far prefer the normal format of illustrations by different artists and adore the work of Paul Kirby, which means this calendar was always going to be a let down. Then to cap it all the holes for hanging the thing up are ridiculously small! We had to cut the head off a small nail to hang it, but this has led to the paper ripping, the calendar now hangs upside down at an ungainly angle! Bigger holes please and go back to the wonderful artists that you used to use!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you don't like the idea of a live Discworld film, don't buy it
I really liked the idea of a live Discworld film (even if split into two).

As far as I am concerned, seeing someone's vision of the Discworld in a live-action film... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Grow up!
It is about time that the Discworld came to life. I love Paul Kirby's images but as an adult I tend to imagine the characters as people not cartoons! Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Discworld Rules even in the flesh
