4.0 out of 5 stars As good as you're likely to get., 19 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Although the depictions of the characters probably dont match how you see them in you head, the illustrations are colourful and as damn near as you could get seeing that everyone has different visions of the legendary characters in their minds. I would have liked to see more original pictures instead of the book covers, otherwise I would have given this the full 5 stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just my opinion..., 29 Dec 2004
By A Customer
Now maybe it's just me, but I was very disappointed with this calender. I got it for christmas and I have found that I don't really like most of the pictures. It is probably just that I've got used to the old style although I like Paul Kidby's illustrations. The main problem is that the drawings are nothing at all how I imagine the characters to be. They have been done by various artists and I don't especially like any of them.

So just a warning really - don't buy it unless you have seen the pictures already!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as it could have been., 4 Nov 2002
While there are several interesting drawings in this calender, I can't help feeling that it would have been preferable if only Paul Kidby's artwork had been used. Many Discworld fans imagine the characters to look like either Kidby or Josh Kirby have portrayed them and many of these drawings don't look like this Discworld I imagined. In particular, the Vimes in the hot springs of Bonk did not resemble Vimes as seen by myself or anyone else I've asked. With the sad loss of Josh Kirby, Kidby is now THE Discworld artist, it felt as though the other artists hadn't really read the books.

2.0 out of 5 stars So Disappointing on Previous Years
Normally, I look forward to the Discworld calender, but the 2006 version is way below standard. Have the artists become complacent in the quality? Read more
