Amazon.co.uk Review
The 7 Day Detox Diet Plan is based on the premise that by no longer eating poor quality food and avoiding allowing toxic substance such as caffeine, tobacco and alcohol to enter our bodies we will allow our natural energy levels to return and therefore feel fit, happier and healthier. By replacing them with good quality, highly nutritious food we will cleanse our over-worked systems and help them to function more effectively.
The plan works on five simple principles: all food must be as fresh as possible, all food must be unprocessed, unrefined and without artificial additives, much of it must be eaten raw or lightly cooked and you must drink 3 pints of fluid every day. At the beginning of the book Leslie gives readers advice on what to avoid, what to eat, how to cook and prepare the food recommended and the importance of exercise, rest and relaxation whilst detoxing. The remainder of the book consists of a 7-day menu plan and over 90 wide-ranging, easy-to-follow recipes.
The menu plan is clear and straightforward and takes you through every step of your day cross-referencing helpfully to the recipes listed at the back of the book. This is an excellent, concise detox plan with clear guidelines and plenty of sound nutritional advice. Leslie explains that after completing her one-week programme you should start to feel much healthier.
If you want real long-term benefits you should keep to the programme for a month, choosing from the 90 recipes listed at the back of the book to plan your own varied and interesting eating programme.--Meg Slyfield
