3.0 out of 5 stars A real disappointment, 14 Dec 2003
By Pamela Maunsell "www.ajustlife.com" (London, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

If you want to make a speech full of one-line gags that will have your audience rolling in the aisles then this could be the book for you. If you want to make a serious speech - forget it. The author focuses on the type of speech he prefers to give - and I am sure he is excellant at it. However this should be balanced out by addressing the needs of the whole range of speech makers. It certainly hasn't helped me and the book is already on the 'Give to Oxfam' pile. Still, I'm giving it three stars because if you are a member of the target audience then it's probably just the right book for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the cover!, 27 Nov 2003
By leek73 (Cardiff, UK) - See all my reviews
From the moment my good friend asked me to be his best man I was dreading the speech that goes with the honour. To lessen the fear I decided that preparation was the key and bought Mitch's book as part of my research. It turned out to be the most useful source of practical advice I uncovered. By following his advice on writing and delivering a speech, mine went down a storm. Some people even commented that I should be a stand-up comedian. That could have been the alcohol talking but still surprising when all I was aiming for was to survive the experience!

If you are in a similar position, worried about a future public speaking commitment then this book may work as well for you.
