Plus a farrago of fruit, fish, frogs, fountains, feet, fragrance, fingers, fallacies, fairy tales, Frankenstein ... You get the idea!

About the Author

John Lloyd is the founder of QI and the producer of some of Britain's best-loved TV shows. He is of the same opinion as Plato: unmitigated seriousness has no place in human affairs. On the other hand, he also likes A. N. Whitehead's assertion that it's more important for something to be interesting than true (although it s more likely to be interesting if it is true).

John Mitchinson is Director of Research for QI. He can regularly be heard muttering Niels Bohr's line about paradox being a sign of progress. He also shares the dilemma of Dr Johnson's friend Oliver Johnson: he tries hard to be a philosopher but cheerfulness keeps breaking in.

4.0 out of 5 stars they keep delivering, 10 Nov 2008
I love buying these kinds of books for presents - you can read them first before wrapping-up! I bought this along with a Joined-Up Thinking by Colgan (Stephen Fry gave a quote on the front cover) and both books entertained me hugely on these cold, wet, darker days. great stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect present, 3 Dec 2008
By An avid reader (Newcastle upon Tyne) - See all my reviews
Know someone who likes QI? read last years QI annual?

Then you know what to expect from this, more of the same (which is fine by me).

By turns, hilarious, educational and fascinating.

Quality entertainment by Stephen and the rest of the guys.

3.0 out of 5 stars All good except that dent..., 19 Mar 2009
By Kaisa Chief (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
Delivery was quick, no problems, however wasn't too pleased with the massive dent on the side of the hardback cover - it looks like the book has been hit with an axe. I think it only fair to warn the purchaser about such unusually noticeable dents. Otherwise can't complain.
