Product Description

Review

'A highly entertaining, erotic sciencefiction thriller that takes Cameron Crowe into Spielberg territory.' New York Times 'Vanilla Sky has one of those plots that doubles back on itself like an Escher staircase.' Chicago Sun-Times 'A brazenly challenging and richly rewarding fable about actions and consequences, dreams and realities.' San Francisco Examiner

This screenplay of the film starring Tom Cruise film is a dark and devilishly twisting tale. Wealthy Manhattan womaniser David Aames's life takes a terrible turn beyond his control as a consequence of his careless ways.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful screenplay which became the masterful film!, 14 April 2002
By A Customer
Most screen writers and movie directors don't start their career's writing for Rolling Stone magazine at the age of 15 whilst touring with some of the greatest musical legends of our time. However what is evident is that Cameron Crowe is no ordinary film maker. Much darker than his semi-autobiographical 'Almost Famous' screen play, 'Vanilla Sky' charts the events of 'David Aames', a thirty-something multi millionaire playboy, who doesn't take life too seriously until 'Julianna Gianni' his 'sleeping' partner drives herself and him off of the side of a bridge. The purposeful accident kills Julianna and leaves the once handsome, women's man, terribly disfigured. Giving much more away would be a sin because Crowe takes us on a journey that should be discovered in its purest form. Needless to say what follows is a dark, philosophical trip that explores many different themes and weaves in and out many different genres. Crowe uses his words carefully to paint a distinctive picture in the minds eye which heightens the tension and gives the perfect effect. Be prepared to be jolted, stunned, and generally played about with in what turns out to be a psychological mission to the next centaury (without giving too much away). If you liked Crowe's other work for its richness and emotion you should like this. Darker and deeper than usual this is a must read for any fan of Amnebar's 'Open Your Eyes' and any fan of Crowe's. If you like your screenplays intelligent, witty, fun, deep and psychological, you'll love this. You have been warned!
