Product Description

Synopsis
One of a series of titles first published by Faber between 1930 and 1990, and in a style and format planned with a view to the appearance of the volumes on the bookshelf. Golding's celebrated story is about small boys marooned on a coral island, where life turns into a nightmare of panic and death.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb modern literary piece of the 20th century., 11 Aug 2000
By A Customer
This book is a book that everyone should read, not only for the storyline but for the submersed ideas of society and human nature which provoke deeper thought upon the reader, which Golding cleverly uses. This book shows how in extreme situations the way the real ideas of democracy, psychology and dictatorship come out of the people within to whom they belong and they ways they try to use them to their advantage. It is a rivetting read that shows how the characters, boys marooned on an island, try to adapt to life without adults and this leads to plot and murder. A must.
