About the Author

Gary Rhodes is one of Britain’s best-loved chefs. His success includes four Michelin stars - at the Castle Hotel in Taunton, Somerset, The Greenhouse, city rhodes and, most recently, Rhodes in the Square - and the prestigious CATEY Special Award, the catering industry’s equivalent to the Oscars, for helping to revive British cookery and for his total dedication to the industry. He has presented six television series, including a cookery series for children based on Roald Dahl’s Revolting Recipes, and has written six other cookery books. As well as his two highly acclaimed London restaurants, Gary has recently opened two brasseries, Rhodes & Co, in Manchester and Edinburgh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean, concise and bells and whistles free cookbook, 6 Mar 2001
By A Customer
Being a relativly new convert to the art of cooking, I had not got any of the Rhodes around Britain trilogy. When I saw this I had to get it and I was not dissapointed.

All the bells and whistles of most cookbooks have been removed, gone are the pretty pictures of how others say the meals should look, what's left are over 450 recipes that are clearly explained and orgainised.

Anyone who has not got any Gary Rhodes books, or only the more recent titles should get this book. If it's good food and good inspiration your after, then look no further.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Complete Rhodes Around Britain, 24 Feb 2004
Really pleased with this cookery book - no arty recipes just good simple food, which will appeal to everyone. Classic British dishes alongside some newer ones, which are certain to become classics in their own right. Really like the way Gary introduces each recipe with extra information and also gives alternatives and helpful hints. Will be using this book for a long time to come and have rediscovered why I liked cooking in the first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime recipes, 17 April 2009
I love this book, and had been looking for it for a long time. My friend cooked a meal from this book and when I tasted the food, I knew I needed it.

Purchased it 2nd hand, and you can see that it has been used, but didn't bother me at all, just showed that the person had good use from it.

This may not be a good book for every cook though, as it has no pictures in it at all. This doesn't worry me, as Gary describes the recipes very well, and also how to present the dish too.

I have cooked a number of recipes from the book, and each one has been superb, and not had any complaints from the people eating the food. Some of the recipes are complex, but other use just a few ingredients, but each one comes out tasting great.

Glad I managed to get my hands on the book!!
