Product Description

Product Description

What happens when two top chefs and one experienced cook all pit their wits against each other in an exciting new BBC2 cookery series to find the very best recipes? Each week Paul Merrett (The Greenhouse), Ben O'Donoghue (Monte's) and Silvana Franco (food writer and home economist) compete against each other to serve up the very best dish to a panel of food-loving judges. Categories include everything from the best sandwich or soup recipe to the best pasta or chicken dish, and the result is a collection of 60 fabulous recipes gathered together in The Best cookbook. Can Silvana's Tuna and horseradish burger rival Paul's Seared black pepper tuna, or will Ben win with his Warm braised tuna saled? All the recipes are simple to prepare and use readily available ingredients so now you can decide for yourself which is the best recipe and serve up delicious home-cooked meals in the process.

5.0 out of 5 stars essential for fans of the show, 8 Jan 2003
A great book for everybody who followed the TV programm and anybody else who is interested in cookery. Most of the recipes are simple and quick, but will impress at any occassion. Silvana's recipes are great for when you haven't made it to the shops and rely on your store cupboard for ingredients. Paul's are refined dishes that might teach new cookery techniques. Ben's offer an unusual twist to classic recipes. In short: there will be a new favourite recipe in here for anyone!

Watched the series, now cook the dishes. Great fan of Silvana's style of no nonsense cooking. The fish cakes are a great family favourite.

I think this book is fantastic. The carbonara is quick and easy yet tastes great, the asparagus is yum too

The recipes are fine and there are some really original ones in there but the book presentation is a little uninspiring considering the quirky nature of the TV programme this book... Read more
