4.0 out of 5 stars Food Heroes You Will Love, 8 Oct 2003
By A Customer
Rick maybe revisiting some of the food heroes of Henrietta Green's book but with the significant gap of 8-10 years (and being hard to find in print) this is a welcome update and has many new suppliers in it.
It covers everything in the series and more including speciality shops. Good details are given for any Certification the produce has i.e. organic and more importantly how to get the produce via mail/internet order.

A very useful book for those who enjoy good quality food!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, shame about the layout, 5 Dec 2005
By A Customer
I really applaud this directory and Rick Stein's championing of British produce, but why the confusing layout by food type? Why not organise geographically like every other good guide book (Good Pub, Good Food, etc.)?

Apart from that, great!

1.0 out of 5 stars Sounds familiar......, 24 Sep 2003
By A Customer
Sorry Rick, it's already been done mate. Tour of England, sourcing small producers etc etc. I would refer you to Henrietta Green's Food Lovers' Britain albeit published some time ago. Also, her book wasn't a money-making spin off from a TV show - it was ground breaking stuff back then. If it wasn't for this lady's efforts, most of the small producers RS talks about wouldn't be here today. I'd stick with the original, folks.
