Taken from a truly bizarre short story in the Four Past Midnight Collection, Secret Window Secret Garden is classic King fare. It's witty, edgy, atmospheric and down right odd. It translates well to the audio format, managing to contian the thrill of the story and adding a few chills. Interestingly the story, which features a man turning up at a writers house and accusing him of plagerism has a parallel with King. He too had a man turn up on his doorstep accusing him of stealing stories, this time the man was carrying a shoebox filled with junk that he called a bomb. Has this personal experience added something to Kings retelling? Who knows but it plays on a fear every writer dreads and combining this with the horror aspect makes it a real horror classic.
