Kenneth Horne was the golden-voiced straight man of the show, with the incredible comic talents of Kenneth Williams, Betty Marsden, Hugh Paddick and Bill Pertwee taking on the guise of a score of characters in fast and funny sketches. Its zany humour will always be remembered as a high point of 60s radio and now attracts a whole new audience in the BBC Radio Collection series of cassettes. So re-live the high times with Rambling Syd Rumpo, Julian and Sandy, Charles and Fiona, Seamus Android, Daphne Whitethigh and many more in these four hilarious programmes. Here we have four complete, uncut episodes of the classic British radio comedy, Round the Horne, all from the programme's first series: "The Disappearance of Edwin Braden", "Who Killed the Amazing Proudbasket?", "From Russia With Love", and "The Theft of the Eiffel Tower". The first two feature Kenneth Horne as a police captain in the "Horne's Law" sendup of "Burke's Law". The last two feature Horne in James Bondage as "Kenneth Horne, Master Spy", battling Kenneth Williams as the fiendish oriental mastermind Chou-En Ginsburg (M.A., failed). Great fun, good sound quality, and lots of laughs even today.
