Seinfeld fans mourning the show's demise can cheer themselves up by buying the book that will tell them everything--and I really mean everything--they could ever want to know about their favourite TV sitcom. Greg Gattuso, a New York magazine journalist and self- confessed Seinfeld obsessive, has written the fanzine to beat all fanzines. But then, having edited and published "Nothing: The Newsletter for Seinfeld Fans" since 1993, he's been practising long enough. Although the cover states clearly that the book "has not been authorized by any entity involved in creating Seinfeld", don't worry about the depth and breadth of information contained within its 200 pages: Gattuso probably knows more about the show, its characters, the actors who play them, awards they have won, commercials they have appeared in, places they visit, dedicated web sites formed in their honour and so on, than anyone actually working on the show.
According to Forbes magazine, the show's eponymous star is also the world's richest entertainer. Jerry knocked Oprah Winfrey off the world's Top 40 Entertainment Millionaires list for 1997, while his co-creator, Larry David, tied with Steven Spielberg for second place. Having amassed a personal fortune of £140 million, it's not surprising that Seinfeld felt he could pull the plug on the show NBC asked him to write. Even as the last episode was being broadcast on May 21, 1998, nine years after its debut, it was already acquiring cult status.
