4.0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected, 30 Mar 2006
By A Customer
This is the second in a trilogy, beginning with Hammered and ending with Worldwired, which is probably best looked on as a novel in three parts. The cover might lead you to expect another mindless military tale, but the reality is that there is a lot more to it than that. There are battles, death, polititians (good, bad and ugly), evil corporations, aliens (only peripherally in this volume) and an intelligent AI. I found the whole thing a gripping tale. The only irritation the way various characters who had been carefully developed in one volume were casually discarded or killed. This niggle aside, I recommend you buy all three volumes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Synopsis, 28 Feb 2007
This is the second book in the Jenny Casey trilogy, the following is a synopsis from the author's official website:

"She's a hero custom-made for a world it may already be too late to save.

The year is 2062, and after years on the run, Jenny Casey is back in the Canadian armed forces. Those who were once her enemies are now her allies, and at fifty, she's been handpicked for the most important mission of her life--a mission for which her artificially reconstructed body is perfectly suited. With the earth capable of sustaining life for just another century, Jenny must discover brave new worlds as pilot of the starship HMCSS Montreal. And with time running out, she must succeed where others have failed.

Now Jenny is caught in a desperate battle where old resentments become bitter betrayals, and justice takes the cruelest forms of vengeance. With the help of a brilliant AI, an ex-crime lord, and the man she loves, Jenny may just get her chance to save the world. If it doesn't come to an end first..."

4.0 out of 5 stars Very readable but does it make sense?, 7 Mar 2008
By Stephen M Blank (Altrincham, Cheshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Like other reviewers, I like the characters. I don't even mind when one or two of them are killed off - more realistic. But I won't give anything away if I ask why there is a race to an extra solar planet? Surely, if there's one there are millions? That kept nagging at me but I will still buy Worldwired
