Product Description

Synopsis

As the Avon Journal's no-nonsense publisher, Jolie Chesney always stuck to the facts. And the fact was that she found the celebrated war hero who'd come to her office angrily demanding a retraction unsettlingly charismatic. His wild sexual exploits had found their way into her paper's gossip column, and Jo had no intention of compromising her standards, journalistic or otherwise. But when her star reporter suspiciously vanishes, Jo seeks help from this dangerously sensual man, whose connection to the Special Branch may save her friend's life, even if it means putting her own life - and heart - on the line. Waldo Bowman sensed danger in his immediate attraction to Jolie the instant they met. Beautiful and independent, she was unlike any woman he knew - and he was determined not to lose her, whatever the risk. But when Jo uses her paper to set a trap for a cold-blooded killer, these reluctant lovers embark on a mystery that will change their lives - or end them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good absorbing read, 6 Mar 2004
By A Customer
I really enjoyed this book. Strong characters and good plotline. And, of course, happy endings all round. Not completely sure about the hero's name as Waldo doesn't really do anything for me. However, that aside, this is a good romance as well as a good mystery. The heroine's best friend and gossip columnist disappears after writing gossip about the hero. The heroine (Jolie) teams up with the hero (Waldo?) to find out what's happened to her, not without some suspicion on Jolie's part. Jolie has an extreme sense of loyalty to her deceased husband which gets in the way of the romance at first but there's a shock to come in that area as well. All in all, very enjoyable and engrossing book. Good holiday read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Romance with strong characters, 25 Mar 2005

I really enjoyed this book. The mystery was good and even though the villain was fairly obvious, the rest was not. The heroine was strong and thoughtful and allowed herself to err and be human. Waldo was lovely and his name didn't seem to bother me at all.
I quite enjoyed the sensuous passages and their romance didn't seem forced or unnatural. I've read and re-read this book a few times already and will undoubtedly read it a few times more. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a strong heroine who does not come across arrogantly or unbelievably.

4.0 out of 5 stars great read, 11 Dec 2008
By Lindymck (Falkirk, Scotland) - See all my reviews
great story, couldnt put it down so read it in an afternoon. a previous reveiwer did comment on the hero's name being waldo which to begin with did kinda seerm silly but when you get into the story you notice it less. our lovers jo and waldo have great chemistry and the pliotline of the missing friend just make it an engrossing read.
