Read Chickenhawk by Robert Mason if you want to read the definative account of a Helo pilot in Vietnam.

This books is merely only long list of anecdotes. Very poor.

I agree that Chickenhawk by Bob Mason is a far better book. In fact I think Chickenhawk is not only the best helicopter based book I've read, but the best Vietnam war book I've read.

I want my money back, after reading approx 30 pages have just thrown this book in the bin. Imagine you got a bunch of your long time friends around in a bar, and you talked about old times and wrote down the stories as you remembered them, while continuing to drink, this is the format this book takes, i loved chickenhawk and when i read a review saying it was good as it, i then bought firebirds, chicken hawk is the best Heli story i've read and firebirds is a shambles - i normally dont write reviews, but am so angry about wasting my money, am making a point of writing this review so others dont fall into same trap.
