Product Description
Margrave is a no-account little town in Georgia. Jack Reacher jumps off a bus and walks fourteen miles in the rain, just passing through. An arbitrary decision, a tribute to a guitar player who died there decades before. But Margrave has just had its first homicide in thirty years. And Reacher is the only stranger in town. So the murder is pinned on him. As nasty secrets leak out and the body count mounts, only one thing is for sure: They picked the wrong guy to take the fall. "Killing Floor" introduces Jack Reacher, the tough ex-military cop of no fixed abode. Trained to think fast and act faster, with an eye for the women, he is truly every thinking reader's perfect action hero.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably one of the best thriller books I have ever read., 26 April 2001
By A Customer
I discovered Lee Child's work when I was given a novel for a present. I finished it in 2 days. 'THE KILLING FLOOR' is a dynamic, intricate thriller which literally keeps you turning the pages. The character of Jack Reacher is very strong; deceptively simply written and wholly engaging. He is quickly becoming one of my favourite fiction charcters. 'THE KILLING FLOOR' takes us through the perfect small-town America deep into the heart of Georgia. Here, Reacher becomes embroilled in a series of horrific killings - and recieves some news which makes the situation intensely personal. The relationships that the charcters develop balance the horror against which they are fighting, and up the stakes to breaking point. The story that unfolds is pacey; detailed and convoluted and manages to deliver a surprise with every turn of the page. Lee Child is one of the most talented writers to come out of England for many years. I hope the books continue with the same vitality that the predecessors have had. The films will be hardpressed to reproduce Reacher's dynamic charcter - good luck to them. If you intend to read one last book in your lifetime - read this one. Then read the rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book that will keep you gripped until the tantalising end!, 15 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This is an excellent read and truly sensational for saying that it is a debut for the talented Lee Child. From the moment Jack Reacher gets off the bus, he becomes embroiled in a non-stop roller-coaster ride of conspiracy and crime with the potential to rock the US. Jack struggles against time to stop the crime in hand. Childs development of the Character- in this novel and his others (DIE TRYING, TRIPWIRE, & THE VISITOR)is truly sensational- why hasnt this guy cleaned up on awards??? I cant wait or his next release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome to Reacher!, 20 April 2007
By Jack Bauer "Read More!" (Basel, Switzerland) - See all my reviews
The first Book I read by Lee Child was "ONE SHOT" - I loved it.
So I logged on to Amazon and ordered the entire collection ;-)
Killing Floor introduces Jack Reacher, the hero who is in all the books, making his way into a strange small town in Georgia where he uncovers and solves a crime. The writing is lovely to read, there is always time for some humor coming from Jacks mouth, the action consistent, the plot builds smoothly till the end. Along the way, Reacher gets involved with some interesting characters, and of course - an attractive Woman..
Unlike most Lee Child novels, the story is narrated by Reacher himself in first person.

If you are new to Jack Reacher, start with this book, its a great read!
