2.0 out of 5 stars Tries to be shocking, but fails., 30 Jul 2002
By J. Kelly - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The problem here is that the author tries to take on a lot for universe that isn't her's. For instance, the very title suggests she wants uproar and mayhem. But she can't do that, because she hasn't been given permission to turn the universe upside down. And it shows. She causes some devestating events, but the consequences don't seem realistic because she has to wrap it all up at the end.

In addition, she uses a number of crutches to save herself. I bet Timothy Zahn sometimes rues the day he created ysalamiri; they're constantly used by other writers, and none of them manage to use them as well as he does.

Give it a miss, and you won't notice anything. The universe comes out unscathed, so there's little point unless you're the type who needs everything with the Star Wars name on it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Division in the Republic as a New Threat looms, 12 May 2001
By A Customer
If you have read The Thrawn Trilogy then you may be used to the Dark Jedi enemy, this time in Kueller and his student Brakiss. Brakiss used to be a student of Luke Skywalkers but something (although it is not fully explained) happened and Brakiss left the Praxeum. This book contains a lot of the politics that came in The Black Fleet Crisis, and the threat to Leia's job (after Han Solo is accused of terrorist acts) is a bit un-original considering it was done in the previous trilogy (with Han being kidnapped this time), but all in all this book provides a good story, using the main characters to the best of their abilities. The ending, however, seemed a bit quick as if the final confrontation was rushed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good - a copy, 10 Jan 2005
This book is okay but not a book I would buy again if I knew what it was going to be like. If you have read the Thrawn and Jedi Academy trilogies, then this book is much the same with different names put in the spaces of Exer Kun, C'Boath and Kyp. The actual writing is pretty good but once you have read it you will think, "I've already read that" because you have read the books mentioned above.
The story is when another of Luke's students rebel's and joins another dark jedi and they set out to destroy the New Republic and kill lots of people all at once. Luke then tries to track down his rebelious student and then faces a lightsabre dual with him. However, there is another force - canceling ceature called a Thornbee that makes them not be able to use the force...
This book is basiclly a copy of several other books and I would reccomend not buying it. I would give it 2 stars.
