5.0 out of 5 stars A great start to a great trilogy!!!, 21 Jul 1999
By A Customer
This book was great, in that it laid the foundation for the next two books of the trilogy very nicely. If you are a Star Wars fan, get the Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn and then get this trilogy. You won't regret it! And to all of the people who are bent out of shape about Luke starting a Jedi Academy: First of all, this is how it was done thousands of years before. The only reason Luke trained with Yoda by himself is simply because there were no other known Jedi at the time. Sure, training each Jedi one-by-one would have given each more attention, I have no problem with Luke training them at an academy. It was the only way for Luke to set up a Jedi core of the New Republic quickly. Anyone who has a problem with this should open up their minds a bit more and should just go with the flow. I'd like to see them write a better Star Wars novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars "No I will not put my book down!", 8 Aug 2000
Wasn't sure of this one to start of with, but had bought the trilogy so kept with it. Everything happened very quickly and was then finished. The scenes with Han, as always were commanding and filled with adventure, although I still have to remind myself that the loveable rogue is Han Solo and not Harrison Ford. I never have had much time for Lando, but he does feature a lot in this trilogy. If you make it past the first book, you will get swamped by the second and third book -They are gripping! Unfortunately I had come across Daala before in Darksaber (I know, read out of sinq, but I didnt have the trilogy at the time) so I didnt expect much from her, although even if I had not of known her, she seemed to have the worst luck ever in basically loosing everything she had. In brief, all I can say is that it has all the favourite characters and some unexpected baddies. Stick with it, you will enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, 25 May 2004
This a great book with a great story line.
In which Luke sets up a new Jedi academy on Yavin 4. In hope to create a new order of Jedi knights to protect the new republic that now rules the galaxy after the collapse of the imperial empire.
Throughout the book he goes on a search for potential Jedi to train at his academy.
The story is great and has no faults that I can think of.
A must read for all Star Wars fans.

Disappointing from the start. No debt in the characters, no gripping plot. The only reason it gets any stars is that it's Star Wars "based". Read more
