5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, sensual and intelligent, 12 Sep 2003
By A Customer
Quirky and sweet, this book tells a story of hope and strength of character. The book works on many levels and is very funny. It starts with the characters (linked by the cheeses in their fridges) in different corners of the world, at different stages in their lives. Then, through a set of coinincidences they converge in the timeless, wholesome Coolarny Farm in Ireland, where the magic truly begins...! The characters are well-developed and the chemistry between them impressive. The cheese sounds delicious too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blessed are the Cheesemakers, 15 Jan 2003
By Mrs R Roberts (Elgin, Moray United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This book had me giggling from cover to cover, at times I ended up laughing out loud. The two elderly irish characters, Fee and Corrie really came to life, I could just imagine them shouting "jesus, mary and all the saints" in a thick irish brogue, and cursing the pasteurising machine, "Old Fart Arse". Abbey has spent several years not noticing just what her idiot husband has been doing to aid the population of a small Pacific Island. You have to read the book just to find out what a "pregnasaurs" are. I wanted to go out to buy some cheese to eat during my reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars a funny fantasy, 21 Mar 2004
By S. Spedding "sukhi77" - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Light and frothy (or should that be curds and wheyey) with a solid base and a lingering aftertaste. Richer than it first appears. You'll want more. But enough about the cheese, the same could be said of this book. I read the first chapter or two and didn't really 'get it', I mean what is all this about cheese, then it took hold and galloped away with me and I read the remaining 2/3 in one go as I wanted to know what happened. Hint: don't skip ahead as I have a habit of doing, there are a few surprises. Peopled with a mad cast of characters in implausible situations and sprinkled with more than a touch of Irish magic, the tale ended too soon for me. I did wonder at first if the author had taken a snazzy title and then tried to fit a story around it, but so what if she did, the end product is very entertaining. I, for one, will never look at cheese in the same way again!

5.0 out of 5 stars I nearly put it down, but glad I didn't!
I read this book on my friends recommendation. She generally reads a different type of book to me, so was a little cautious as to whether I'd enjoy it or not. Read more
