5.0 out of 5 stars You don't have to be a believer…, 15 Aug 2002
By A Customer
… to enjoy this. I definitely count myself as a sceptic and don't usually like anything the least bit fey - but this really is an excellent read. It's very funny and I really found it hard to put down even though I was supposed to be working. The main character, Mark, is also a sceptic, so I found it easy to identify with him. He's funny and flawed (in a lovable way) and extremely credible. Don't be put off if you're not a floaty person, this will have you hooked whatever your beliefs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this book., 24 Sep 2003
I cant really say anything more - you have to buy this book because it is so good I wouldnt lend you mine! Warm, sad, funny, provocative - a story that will challenge what you think or confirm what you already thought - you will read and reread this and laugh and cry every time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Believe the hype!, 5 Nov 2003
By A Customer
Absolutely brilliant, I couldn't put it down. Up there in the same league as Nick Hornby and Tony Parsons, it's hard to believe that a woman could write a male character so well. It covers so many aspects of life, death, religion and relationships, and it covers them very well - something for every reader to identify or empathise with, and thought provoking too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not her best work.
Got this book because 'Cool for Cats' is a great read. Slightly disappointed by it but it is better than 'Tom, Dick & Debbie Harry' which is really badly written. Read more
