Product Description

Product Description

Bella is a successful, attractive woman, but when she decides to have a child, she turns her ordered world upside-down. Her city-slicker life doesn't go too well with morning sickness and the emotional ravages of motherhood, but somehow she makes it through, a stronger, happier woman.

From the Back Cover

Bella Browning is attractive, successful and ambitious. She works hard, plays hard and adores her journalist husband Don (even though she doesn't always behave as well as she should). But deep down she knows there's something missing...a baby. Don is terrified by the prospect but after all, Bella's a top Management Consultant turning around multi-million pound corporations...she can handle this! Can't she?

In between bouts of morning sickness, raging hormones and a few indiscretions with gorgeous Chris from the office, she quickly discovers how very hard it is to be the perfect, working modern mother with the sex appeal of a Grecian goddess. But Bella is a woman of many talents and she's not about to be beaten...

Three in a Bed is a compulsive, funny and honest first novel about love, sex, business and babies in the twenty-first century.

5.0 out of 5 stars I read this book in less than 48 hours!!, 4 Sep 2002
I can sum the hilarity, brutal honesty and story-line of this book up in 2 words....."absolutely brilliant"!! From the moment I picked it up I was hooked. Completely.

Bella is an attractive city-slicker. She is human; she drinks, eats, smokes and loves risque situations in risque places! At the same time she wants a baby....but forgot to tell her 'very-happily-married-minus-children' husband!

Bella captured my heart completely. Whether you have kids, want kids, are single, married, had a nightmare delivery in pregnancy or sailed through the 'Piles' and stitches you will scream with laughter with this brilliant character who I desperately hope visits my book shelf again!

5.0 out of 5 stars So good I wrote to the author!!, 28 Jul 2002
By A Customer
I found this book to be absolutely brilliant - so good that I wrote to the author to tell her so - something I have never done before and can't see me ever doing again (unless she writes another one!).

Perhaps the reason this book has made such a strong impact on me is the way in which the main character, Bella, reacted to motherhood - it totally mirrored my own experience. It was as though I had written it myself, albeit for the fact that I wouldn't have been able to tell it in such a frank, honest and meaningful way.

Carmen Reid's style of writing is definately not for the faint-hearted, but she is an absolute GENIUS and I can't wait for her next novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining...but still fiction, 28 Feb 2006
By Ms. A. K. Stephens "Alejandrita" (Spain) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I'm glad I read this book once I was a mother, not before!!! There is a lot of well-described, harsh reality of pregnancy, relationships and motherhood. Once you're a mum you can laugh and enjoy it but I'd imagine it'd scare the life out of me beforehand!

What I didn't like was the underlying message (I suppose for fiction/entertainment) that everything can fall apart and until the mother gets her act together, the little family can't work.
