Product Description

A summer of change, revelation, secrets, surprises and new beginnings...As Diana Morrison laid the table for six at her elegant Central Park apartment, she had no warning of what was to come. Spending New Year's Eve together was a tradition for Diana, her husband Eric, and their best friends Pascale and John Donnally and Anne and Robert Smith, and as the friends sipped champagne, they talked of renting a villa together in the South of France the following summer. But life had other plans...Just two weeks after New Year, tragedy strikes at the heart of their close circle as Robert suffers a sudden, tragic loss. Diana and Eric, Pascale and John, united in their love and shared grief, rally to his side and urge him to join them on the Riviera in August. But the ramshackle old mansion is far from the exquisite villa they had imagined, and Robert surprises them all by inviting a lovely, much-younger film actress with mile-long legs and a million-dollar smile. Diana and Pascale hate her on sight, but the men are dazzled, and amidst the crumbling furniture and glorious sunsets more surprises are in store. Old wounds are healed, new love discovered, and miracles unfold...all beneath the dazzling sun of St Tropez.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money!, 29 Sep 2003
By A Customer
I decided to purchase this book using a free voucher as I'd read books by the same author a few years ago and generally found them well written and easy to read. I'm very glad that I didn't waste any money on this book - it was one of the worst books I've read in a long time. Yes, I did finish it, but only to see what happened in the end! Danielle Steele touches on a subject that either has been, or will become, an issue for many of us - that of the loss of one of a close-knit group of friends, their reaction to the death and, eventually, her "replacement". Unfortunately I found the grammar rather poor; indeed I found myself re-reading passages on a number of occasions as they failed to make sense the first time through. The author keeps repeating herself unnecessarily, too. From a publishing point of view, the book is printed over almost 300 pages. However, the font is so large that I'm sure production costs could have been minimised if, say, it had been kept to 200 pages. Not up to her usual standard.

5.0 out of 5 stars great holiday reading, 11 Sep 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Sunset in St.Tropez (Hardcover)
this book has you hooked from the beginning with believable charactors. I loved the way it showed all sides of the situations that arose during the story with a pleasing ending for all. The friends charactors were great making them your friends as well. My favourite charactor was the female cleaner so vividly descripted and had me laughing as i visualised her outfits. Like her other books she has you reaching for the hankies at one point and laughing at another. A book with lots of twists and I can't wait for her next one.

3.0 out of 5 stars light read, 15 Sep 2003
By N C Challinor (London United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Sunset in St.Tropez is not too bad but not one of her best. When Robert looses his wife it was very sad, but halfway through the story when they go on holiday it starts to get predictable. It is a light read but not as exciting and grabbing as some of her novels.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could take it or leave it.
This book was hard to get into and did not have me hooked from the word go, but I persevered and by the middle had managed to get into the story.

1.0 out of 5 stars dissapointing
I am a big fan of
Danielle Steel. This book is not one of her best. It started out strong and just sort of died in the middle. Read more
