Product Description

This is the diary of a 15-year-old girl experiencing first love, first sexual experience - and then an accidental pregnancy. Characteristically, Ros Asquith tells the story with a mix of seriousness and frivolity. And it's not just about the pregnancy. This is the story of Amy (who longs to be a rock star); her best friends Lottie, Mad Alice and Debbie (also known as the band, Black Hole); her crazy home life with her dad (who's having an affair with the actress over the road), mum and a pair of chaotic little twin sisters; her school (also known as KFC or Broadmoor); her trip to the Glastonbury Festival - and - and - in other words, all the normal stuff of being a teenager. The UK has one of the highest incidences of teen pregnancy in the world. It's a non-stop media story. As with all Ros Asquith's previous books, she's researched the subject carefully and visited teenage mum groups. There will be a list of advice lines and websites at the back of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh then cry, 11 Jan 2006
By Lena (birmingham) - See all my reviews
This is a fantastic book, way ahead of the usual predictable boy meets girl story. I got it for Christmas and read it on Boxing Day. I didn't want it to end but I couldn't stop reading. It made me laugh a lot and I actually cried twice, which I never do at books. All I can say is if you want to learn how NOT to get pregnant (and what it might feel like if you did) then this is the book for you. The description of going for the pregnancy test is hilarious and the whole book moves from comedy to misery on nearly every page. I learnt a lot from this book. VERY funny and VERY touching.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 20 Feb 2005
I loved this book! It was funny, tear-jerking and overall full of emotion. It's about a a 15 year old girl who wants to be a rock star and find love. When she does find love it escapes and then after a night on the town she meets someone and soon finds out she's pregnant! Through her diary entries she talks about her lost love, friends, parents, school, boys and having a baby. It bascially a great book for any teenage girl. It'll make you laugh and cry but most of all you'll never want to put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars In need of a sequel!, 10 Mar 2005
I've been a big fan of Ros Asquith for a while now, and I was excited when I heard she had a new book coming out. I enjoyed Love Fifteen immensely, and had to read it in one sitting because I literally could not put it down! The teenage portrayals are very true to life - I almost recognised myself in parts. Buy this book if you want to know what being a pregnant teenager is really like, or if you just want to read a very funny and moving story.

When I reached the end, my immediate thought was "This needs a sequel!" Although Love Fifteen deals extremely competently with teenage pregnancy, a sequel about actually being a teenage mum would be fantastic.. and who doesn't want to know what happens to Amy?!

5.0 out of 5 stars An amusing, entertaining read
This book is about a girl called Amy who gets pregnant (with twins) when she is fifteen. Ros Asquith writes the book really well, but I don't think that it is very realistic... Read more
