Product Description

This archaeological detective story attempts to reveal the true meaning of the prophecies of the Old and New Testaments. The prophets of the ancient world, in their search for a calendar upon which to inscribe the dates of events far in the future, looked to the skies. The revolution of the stars and the progression of the constellations of the zodiac were an accurate and lasting means of measuring the passage of time. The astrologically-aligned monuments - such as the pyramids - were placed to record the progress of the years, counting down to the end of an age. The constellation of Orion, the figure of man set in stars, has now arrived at its northernmost point. At the same time, the summer-solstice sun is due to cross the eastern and western sky exactly over the pyramid of Khafre. Could this be the "Sign of the Son of Man" described in the Book of Revelation as marking the beginning of the Apocalypse?

From the Back Cover

In this riveting archaeological detective story, bestselling author Adrian Gilbert reveals the true meaning of the prophecies of the Old and New Testaments, prophecies that have an enormous significance for our own age.

The prophets of an ancient world, in their search for a fixed calendar on which to inscribe the dates of events far into the future, looked to the skies. In a world before electric light, the revolution of the stars and progression of the constellations of the zodiac were an accurate and lasting means of measuring the passage of time. The astrologically aligned monuments - such as the pyramids - were placed to record the progress of the years, counting down to the end of an age.

The constellation of Orion, the figure of Man set in stars, has now arrived at its northernmost point - a journey that has taken nearly 13,000 years. At the same time, the summer-solstice sun, in the hand of Orion, is due to cross the eastern and western sky exactly over the Khafre pyramid. The belt of Orion is now rising over the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem; and on either side of the Orion constellation will be visible the seven planets of the ancients - the seven angels of prophecy. Could this be the Sign of the Son of Man in Heaven, described in the Book of Revelation as marking the beginning of the Apocalypse? It will not be long before we find out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Discoveries of great significance, 15 Oct 2005
By Pieter "Toypom" (Johannesburg) - See all my reviews
(TOP 10 REVIEWER)
Gilbert takes the Biblical prophecy about signs in the sky heralding the end of the age and the birth of a new one, to mean the movement and position of the constellations. He explores the significance of the constellation Orion by investigating its importance in ancient Egypt, in other kingdoms of the Middle East and in esoteric knowledge.

The astrology that he investigates has nothing to do with the occult or the real or imagined influence of the stars on our lives, but instead with the cycles of time and how they are recognizable in the positions of the constellations. The keys to the ancient wisdom are found in astronomy, archaeology, the harmonics of proportion, numerology and astrology.

Gilbert describes the insights he gained over about three decades that included visits to Egypt, Israel and Turkey. He looks again at the pyramids as chronometers of the Bible and by considering the work of pioneers like Charles Piazzi Smyth and contemporary authors like Robert Bauval and Graham Hancock.

He makes extensive use of the SKYGLOBE computer programme for establishing the position of the constellations at the time of Jesus life and death, which he puts at 29AD. The figure of Orion corresponds closely with the concept of the cosmic Adam as found in the Kabala. Gilbert maintains that the Giza plateau is a map of time, of the present age of Adam.

He identifies Orion as the main symbol for the "Son of man in heaven," and this a key that unlocks further prophecies in the Books of Revelation and Daniel. He integrates these discoveries with descriptions of his visits to Jerusalem, the Temple Mount and the Mount of Olives.

Gilbert also takes into consideration the geology of the Holy Land and the major changes that might come about if there were a major earthquake. The Mayan calendar date of 2012 is also dealt with in the light of his discoveries, in particular the mystical marriage in heaven that will take place that year between Orion and the planet Venus.

I think Signs In The Sky is a book of great significance. I found some parts too technical in his detailed explanation of measurements, geometry and astronomical calculations, but I suppose the detail is important in making his points. The book concludes with four appendices: The Architectural Gnosis, A Chronology In The Stars, The Lion Of God and The True Date For Easter And The Fatima Letters.

There are also extensive notes, a bibliography and an index. The text is enhanced by black and white maps, illustrations and stellar signatures, whilst the 33 beautiful colour plates include photographs of the pyramids, the Sphinx, the Wailing Wall, Dome of the Rock, the Mount of Olives and a beautiful esoteric painting, Opening The Stargate: 29th June 2000, in which the spirit of Orion as the Alpha and the Omega instructs St John as he writes the Book of Revelation.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece of Personal Detective Work, 6 Jun 2000
By M. Ives (Surrey, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a wonderful journey through the minds of the early Egyptians and the Prophets. Adrian has once again pushed forward the boundaries of human thinking and reasoning to an entirely new level. Signs in the Sky above coincidental with that happening below on earth? Sounds incredulous, but the proof is there for all to see and it takes a very special mind to decipher them. As has been said in early times that the knowledge shall be hidden from men until the time is right for them to understand it. That time is approaching and we need people like Adrian to lead the way.

What is also refreshing about the book is that it takes a 'Down to Earth' form that once absorbed makes sense - no UFOs included. The theory on the Sphinx being re-carved at a later date is again an approach that no one else has thought of and is entirely plausible.

Signs in the Sky is a very personal journey and the Author very deliberately invites to take that journey with him and follow his understanding.

Would recommend Signs in the Sky to anyone interested in this field.

1.0 out of 5 stars Conjectures and refutations, 29 Feb 2004
By C.R. (Belgium) - See all my reviews
This book is of a seldom seen poor quality in its genre. The author claims in his preface that what he has elaborated into this book "is based on fact and the logical evaluation of evidence". But as soon as I started reading the book, Adrian Gilbert continually uses expressions such as "it is quite probable", "it would seem that", "it is therefore well possible that" ... and then starts to make deductions of all these unproven facts. If Adrian Gilbert is honest, he will admit that is a "believer" of the theory that the Son of Man is in reality Orion, but nothing more than that.
