Product Description

Product Description

In this thriller, a religious extremist is about to hold the world at ransom. A televangelist with a background in germ warfare has a mission to unleash a deadly virus that will wipe out half the human race, unless his demands are met. Only a fugitive can stop them.

From the Back Cover

For Conor O'Neil, security director of a large Fifth Avenue store, the hot summer day holds no warning of the nightmare which is about to engulf him. After a lethal robbery, Conor, who's been wrongfully arrested for the crime by a bent cop, goes on the run. He discovers that an eerie pair of stage hypnotists, a fervent Southern Baptist, and a very sinister televangelist are involved in the heist, the proceeds of which are to bankroll something unthinkable yet all too possible.

Conor's desperate need to avert a worldwide catastrophe and at the same time clear his name takes him on a terrifying journey by raft and ravine to a Norwegian settlement in the Arctic Ocean. Here some of the victims of a former deadly plague are buried - and here, too, an implacable opponent awaits him, armed with what could be the most devastating weapon of all...

Alan Blackwood's second novel is as gripping, ingenious and fast-paced as his debut thriller, Kingdom of the Blind.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent action-packed read!, 9 Dec 1999
By A Customer
It's not often that you come across a new author who can captivate you with his work, but Alan Blackwood certainly succeeded here. From the ititial robbery I was hooked as to what the link was to the mysterious duo, and where had the money gone and why? I could not put this down, as I was drawn further and further into Conor O' Neil's life as a fugitive. The characterisations were good and I enjoyed seeing the power of hypnosis at work. What more can I say? I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an edge of your seat story, with plenty of action thrown in! Keep up the great work Alan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Graham Masterton reprint, 12 Feb 2004

Just to let you know...This book is being re-published as Holy Terror by Graham Masterton. A great read but don't be fooled like I was with his previous Blackwood re-print Kingdom Of The Blind titled Genius. I am a collector and was hoping for a new read but there was no information on the book so I bought it only to realize the book seemed very familiar. I had searched for a while and purchased it as a Blackwood book. Holy Terror or Plague of Angels is like his earlier novels such as Ikon, Tengu and Famine in that they are epic in their scope. This one contains all of Masterton's classic graphic violence, twists and turns. If you like Graham you won't be disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average......., 14 Mar 2000

This book is full of action and pace so it is not difficult to maintain interest throughout.

However, I was slightly put off by the plot's reliance on people being hypnotised successfully, every so often, to do the abnormal.

There were too many minor flaws for my liking too. For instance, the book's central character is a very high profile fugitive whose credit cards and bank accounts have for some time been frozen by the authorities. Yet he manages to leave the country with his passport without problem.

An OK read, but that's about all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not very good
As a thriller, this book consists of the hero stupidly charging around getting into situations where he relys on hypnosis to escape. Read more
