Product Description

Product Description

Taking an intuitive approach to presenting statistical theory, this text is more conceptually than computationally oriented, covering both descriptive and inferential statistics. The narrative of the book develops concepts first using prose, explaining calculations in simple language before introducing the formulas. Pagano's informal writing style should be easily comprehended by students, especially those who are not mathematically inclined.

4.0 out of 5 stars statistics, 6 Mar 2004
By N M BARRETT (Croydon, Surrey United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Having studied statistics at undergrad level and beyond I really rate this book. I have continued to use it. Sometimes it feels like there are too many equations, but I do like this book. If you concentrate it does become clear, and I constantly refer to it. Thanks to "Bob" my understanding of statistics has increased. I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best "laymans" stat book i've seen so far, 17 Jan 2005
By Anton (Copenhagen Denmark) - See all my reviews
Don't get my title wrong - it is not because this is a low-level statistics for dummies kind of book. It really deserves praise because it uses some great and simple examples to explain what usually is explained in a complex and scientific way.
I've seen a lot of books on statistics and usually they're either far too thick going over and over the same subject or they lack a pedagogical knack of explaining the sometimes comlex issues.
Warmly recommended!!!
