5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating insight to a rarely thought about condition.., 10 Oct 2001
This book touches the reader with a sense of human accomplishment, within the lives of conjoined twins, we gain and insight to the human condition and need for identity. This book is ground breaking as it teaches the reader that such twins are not medical anomalies but individuals who happen to share theirs totally because of a physical attachment, the psychological attachment of such twins is explored and the ethics surrounding their separation and the right to remain joined...
Wrote in a manner which is unobtrusive to the subjects reviewed, the fascinating lives of conjoined twin sets are revealed and examined.
This condition which is rarely thought about and when addressed is usually in a connotation to freak shows of yesteryear, is studied in a humanistic way with personal case studies of conjoined twins and their own experiences on sharing a body, the book not only incorporates medical fact but also psychological profiles and indeed the humanistic side of the subjects stories.
All in all a well writen and enthralling read which will leave he reader with a sense of knowing more about disability and personal strenth of those afflicted with it: to quote " my name is Lori ,my name is not conjoined twin,i am a HUMAN BEING. fantastic!
