The only minus is the rather hackneyed and corny romance between the Will and Elwen, indeed remove the latter from the story entirely and nothing would be lost. However such faults can be forgiven in a first novel. A breathtaking debut, exciting, informative and addictive, I can't wait for the next installment. The entire search for the book could be taken out and the story could still stand, although the journey did help Will come to terms with his past. - For a bunch of medieval men, the main characters here are superbly in touch with their feelings and emotions. Even today, most men are not like that. In this respect, the book is very Hollywood. - Talking about which, The Book was stolen quite several times which infuriated me at a point. How can that be? That doesn't even make sense. Nevertheless, some really good points: - The characters were very well developed. - Will's reconciliation with Elwen in the end was a nice ending to that part of the story. - The Seven Stars scene was tense beyond belief and was written fantastically. My personal favourite. - The end was a fitting end to the story with the situation set up perfectly for a sequel. On the whole, I have never read a 672-paged book so quickly.
