5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, all round, easy to read weather guide, 7 Nov 2000
By A Customer
If you're looking for an easy to read paperback on waether, this is the book you've been searching for! It contains chapters on observing, mapping, and forcasting the weather among others. The book is very easy to read (I managed it in one night!) but detailed enough to go back to and read again. It is so up-to-date it contains information on global warming, el Nino and severe waether conditions. Most of all, unlike others I have read, it doesn't solely concentrate on the America's! If your looking for a book for the budding Michael Fish in your life, this is it....it even tells you why he was technically correct when he said "no hurricane" back in 1997!!! The book has an excellent further reading list and contains addresses of some very good web-sites...Definately to be recomended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beware of duplicates!, 13 Oct 2005
Nothing to add to the previous review - the book's excellent, and if you only buy one book on meteorology, make it this one.

However, if you decide to take your reading further be warned that the Philips Guide to the Weather (ISBN: 054007456X) is exactly the same book, except for the cover.
