Objective IELTS is a 2-level IELTS preparation course providing comprehensive training for both the Academic and General Training modules. The course is uniquely informed by the Cambridge Learner Corpus, using analysis of real IELTS candidate papers. The 2 levels of Objective IELTS can be used on their own or consecutively, so that lower-level students requiring a high band score can start preparing early. Each level offers 60-80 hours of study, which can be extended using the Workbook and CD-ROM.

This book was a big help in enabling me to develop my english language skills for my recent IELTS exam, which I managed to achieve a score of 8.0 with this books help. Each section of the book is broken down into reading, speaking, listening and writing tasks for either the academic or general training test. There is also a CD Rom included so you can practice your language skills on your PC. I thought this was a great feature and added a little fun to learning another language.

This is an excellent helping tool for IELTS aspirants. The techniques explained are excellent. The practice tests are quiet helpful.

I studied with this book as well as CDs that are to be bought separately Objective IELTS Advanced Audio CDs: Advanced for my IELTS exam, and achieved overall band score of 8: 9 for Reading, 8,5 for Listening, 7 for Speaking and 6,5 for Writing.

Therefore from my personal experience I can say that this set (book and CDs) is excellent for those who already are in upper-intermediate level and are prepared to make use of this book for achieving high score. I did not dream I could get 9 in one of the sections! Actually, after working with this book doing the actual exam seemed extremely easy.

My lowest mark was for writing, but there the book can not be blamed. This is just the week point of self-study method - you need a teacher to tell you what you are doing wrong.
