This Bible has been well constructed using good materials so that it is a joy to own.

In some places, I thought the print quality was lacking slightly in definition, but there is no problem with readability.

The Concise Bible Dictionary at the back has much useful information, but this was marred by some humanistic opinion in places. Let the reader be guided by the Bible text, rather as be swayed by the opinion of scholars in the Dictionary.

The King James Text is the Word of God in the English language, that has not been superseded by modern versions, regardless of their existence. While the style of the language may appear antiquated to a newcomer, regular reading should eventually reveal the superiority of that style of Bible language. It is the Word of God and it has majesty and power. It will provide good guidance for daily living; but most of all, it has the potential to transform the way you think, and to preserve your very soul for eternal life. It will tell you of the creation of all things in Genesis; it will tell you of things to come to pass in Revelation; and in the Gospel of John, it will tell you of the love and salvation of Jesus Christ, that took the way of the cross so that those who accept it may be saved for all time...

This edition which I bought in December 2003,is one of the best bible I have ever laid my hands on. The calf leather wears very well, in fact it looks as if it was just a year old. The zipper closure has protected the gilt edges very well so I have no fear of bringing this bible around in different weather conditions. True enough the calfskin binding has become more supple these past years from the natural lubrication brought about by constant contact with my hands. The India paper is superb. Even if you accidentally have the thin pages folded , they actually are pressed back into place by the weight of the whole bible. The King James version is still unsurpassed for its cadence and inspiration. The references, concordance and dictionary still makes it a veritable treasure chest for deepening ones study of the word of God. I am just saddened that Cambridge does not currently offer the zipper edition in its 2006 and 2007 catalogue. The only binder that surpasses cambridge bibles are those produced by R.L Allan and Son Publishers. Allan's of Glasgow is the finest bible binders in the world! I have ordered their goatskin bound cambridge compact bible with zipper closure and it is a work of art.Their goatskin binding is beautiful and much softer than my cambridge cameo calfskin edition. I know that Allan's of Glasgow had a goatskin edition of this reference bible but it has not been reissued. If the Bible is the eternal word of God doesn't it make sense to have one that will last a lifetime? Buy Cambridge and do it through Amazon...they really deliver!
