Product Description

Product Description

When originally published in 1960, this was the first complete English translation since 1799 of Kant's early work on aesthetics. More literary than philosophical, "Observations" shows Kant as a man of feeling rather than the dry thinker he often seemed to readers of the three "Critiques".

3.0 out of 5 stars It is a good book for person who love philosophy...., 26 Jan 1999
By A Customer
Really it is a good book, perhaps a bit old but , all the same, very interesting.

It is , like one whould say , a "pre-text" for the notion of self that K.Popper speaks in his papers. The sublime begins with something of ugly and finishes with something of beautiful ; in a word it is a sublimation like e.g the change of state of a substance i.e ice* to vapour without passing by the state of water. The sublime is ,however ,"ice plus the process" and beautiful is vapour.Sublime is like a "scheme" it is it which serves to product something. If you have time to read and , of course, love philosophy try to read it , really it is a good book.

*Don't make experiment with "gold":of course this example is a counter-example.In a word this example becomes sublime....
