Scharf presents a balanced contemporary view of all the principle naval actions of the Civil war with extensive background information and arguments are presented by both sides.

An incredible read, start with The Arkansas and be absorbed in this facinating and little known subject. This BEFORE the Official version of events released and less slanted.
